Can we just take a second to talk about Roe v. Wade?

Apparently Roe v. Wade was a landmark decision passed to “kill human babies.”

That isn’t it though. In the case, it was stated that ass holes weren’t allowed to take away a patient’s 14th Amendment rights. The 14th Amendment states that the government isn’t allowed to take away your “life, liberty, or property” without going about it fairly.

Basically, in the 70’s, a woman in Texas was pissed about TX’s abortion laws, where it was only okay if the life of the parent was in danger. She took it to court. Shit went down, and the Supreme Court decided a parent had their right to privacy and to seek a legal abortion and blah blah blah.

Roe wins!

*Fun fact: Jane Roe is now the biggest anti-choicer ever and is pissed about her own case.

However, states could screw with those rules if they chose to do so. And they definitely have.

With Roe v. Wade, people were allowed access to abortion and other reproductive services.

Fast forward 39 years (that’s a long time), and we’re in 2012. Ass holes like you guys are trying to repeal Roe v. Wade.

You guys think people want to have abortions for shits and giggles?

Roe v. Wade has saved lives.

If you get rid of it, abortion will still happen. And do you know what happens when abortion becomes illegal? Back alley abortions happen. Illegal abortions can ultimately lead to death.

You know what else happens? People use sharp objects to scrape against their uterus so they can bleed and go to the hospital and legally have an abortion. But people become uninformed about the size of their reproductive organs (thanks dickwads!) and wind up puncturing internal organs.

So yeah.

This is the 21st century. We should not be going back to the days of illegal back alley procedures. We should have reproductive healthcare available to everybody.

Long story short: Trying to get rid of Roe v. Wade will never be a good thing.

Keep in mind! There are many feminists out in the US, and we will all keep fighting until we have the rights we deserve. As human beings, we don’t deserve to go back.
